So… how did we end up working almost exclusively with estheticians?

Joelle has been designing websites since middle school, long before it became her career. That early passion connected her with CJ Williams, now the owner of CJ Esthetics, and a project that would shape the future of Dope Magic Co.

In 2018, when CJ was starting out as a solo booth renter, Joelle went to CJ for her own skin and a partnership emerged. Joelle ended up helping her take professional photos and built her first website. As CJ’s business evolved, so did the website. More pages, more functionality, and eventually a full transition to Shopify for more sales.

As CJ began referring her esthetician friends, a clear pattern emerged. Many estheticians were facing the same challenges online, and most platforms weren’t built with their needs in mind. We started creating thoughtful solutions: from password protected products and ingredient checking tools to photoshoot guidance and full eCommerce setup.

Today, we partner with our clients by designing Shopify websites that reflect all their magic and make life easier. Our clients are busy, highly skilled professionals and they shouldn’t have to explain their industry or hold a developer’s hand. We already get it.

The name "Dope Magic" came from Joelle's solo travels in her early 20s, describing those rare, perfect, against-all-odds moments. Now, we help entrepreneurs create their own Dope Magic through custom eCommerce development.

After graduating with a triple degree in business management, marketing, and international business, Joelle embarked on her digital journey as a travel blogger. She built her blog from scratch and found her passion for web design and development. That passion bloomed into her own agency back in 2019.

Joelle has collaborated with coaches, companies, small businesses, and therapists, and estheticians, landing them appearances in major publications, tv, and podcasts. She's got quite the passport of experiences, having lived, studied, and worked in Cape Town, France, Belgium, South Africa, Austin, the Pacific Northwest, and now, she's proudly rooted in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky.

Her adventurous spirit also led her to establish an adult summer camp in 2023, "Adventurous Womens Camp," where she gets to combine her passion for exploration and community.

This was the first branding shoot taken in my own space, in the home I dreamed about for two years, captured by my sweet partner, which somehow makes every image feel even more special.

For those who don’t know, in 2023 I left Austin after ending an engagement and moved back home to rebuild my life from the inside out. Those two years were full of healing, clarity, quiet work, and a whole lot of dreaming. Every single day, I imagined having my own space again. A place that felt safe, beautiful, and fully mine.

Signing a lease this summer, creating this home, and finally feeling rooted again… it was worth every minute of the wait ?

I’m more sure of who I am, and my style, than ever before.

This new era feels aligned, grounded, and honestly? A little magical ?

I spoke to my 21 year old self here, right after she graduated college and still didn’t know what her next step would be. She felt like she had to get a corporate job because thats what all her friends were doing but then she decided to sell all her things and buy a one way ticket to Europe instead ?

I got to live in France for 4 months to teach english then moved to Belgium to be an au pair. It was during this time that I started a travel blog and fell in love with web design.

Here I am, almost a decade later, forever grateful I took a different path than my peers. Cause it led me to be here now, the founder of a web design agency that helps women make MORE MONEY! It all worked out better than I could’ve imagined.

• Emails from “Shopify” using @gmail.com (not official @shopify.com)
• Urgent messages threatening store deactivation
• Requests to switch to WhatsApp/Telegram
• Fake verification badges
• Pressure tactics with impossible deadlines

❌ Legitimate companies like Shopify will NEVER:
• Use generic email domains
• Threaten immediate account closure
• Ask you to move critical conversations to messaging apps
• Demand instant responses with vague “compliance” threats
