Solo, Skilled, and Finally Looking the Part: The Flashed Out Rebrand

Tayla came to us stuck in a loop that many small businesses owner find themselves in.. trying to DIY a brand, not loving what she landed on, and doing it again and again and again. She had her booking software and a domain she was paying for but not using. Tech "was not her zone of genius" (her words), everything felt scattered, and she came to us hoping to get more organized.

First Stop: A New, Professional Brand

Our branding specialist got to know Flashed Out's actual vibe, relaxing but results driven, elevated but approachable, and built a brand that finally felt uniquely her, not just another Pinterest board.

The Website

Next, we built her a mini Shopify site that pulled her services, her story, and her retail (she carries Colorescience, GlyMed+, Mixi, and more) all in one place.

The result? A fun, approachable, and professional website that is overflowing with personality and built to make shopping easy.

Three years ago, my life was flipped upside down. I ended an engagement, left my corporate job, moved back home, and had no idea what was next.

But if there is anything I’ve learned over the years, when you truly feel lost, the things that brought you joy as a kid will always lead you back home. For me, that was being outside at camp.

I had heard about adult summer camps out west and thought how come all the cool things are out west? Kentucky deserves cool things too!

I had the idea in May and we hosted our first camp a few months later in October. (The ADHD in me thrived ?) Camp has evolved over the years but there are two things that make our camp special: no phones and women only. And this is intentional.

There’s a special kind of healing that only happens when you let yourself be still and away from distractions. When you slow down enough to get a little bored, breathe fresh air, and open up to the women around you.

At camp, you’re supported from the moment you arrive to the moment you drive home. You don’t have to plan, decide, manage, or juggle anything. You just get to be.

This year will be our 4th camp and our first year selling out. We have women ranging from 24-60+ and we’ll spend the weekend outside, in glamping tents, doing arts and crafts, cooking class, rock climbing, and more.

Getting to create a space for the people who spend most of their life doing things for everyone else is something I’ll never take for granted. ?

So here’s to another epic camp! I’ll be out of office until 9/22.

ESPECIALLY when it comes to tech.. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve experienced it myself. And I would even say I understand it more than the common person!

If someone makes you feel small or dumb because they’re explaining things in a way you cannot understand, that is THEIR issue, not yours.

There is always a way to explain things in a way someone can understand whether they are 5 years or 25 or 60.

So many of you come to us having worked with other agencies or developers who write you off just for being a woman. Maybe they belittle you or treat you differently because of your profession. Maybe they roll their eyes at your questions. Or maybe they want to prioritize how the website works and not how it looks.

Which PS, you can have an excellent website that works hard AND is aesthetically pleasing.

Working with people like that tends to leave you feeling even more overwhelmed, even more ashamed, and keeps you stuck hoping you can just figure it out yourself.

I can promise you, that will never happen with us.

We will always do our best to:

A quick google led me to finding Amberjack and as a Shopify designer, I am so impressed. The site is clean, easy to navigate, and is set up to convert with easy shopping and app integrations. Excellent website, great idea, and the packaging was also 🤌🏼 🍫 @coopshotfudge I am a SUCKER for creative packaging. This brand caught my eye at Whole Foods because their wax top is made to look like it’s melting down the side. Perfection. Great website too 🤤 💋@doll.face.skin.club I don’t care that she’s my client, her branding and the world she has created deserves to be shouted from the rooftops!! Esthetics doesn’t have to be boring and Maeci is proof that the more you own your weird, the more the right people will find you. Not only are their fishes delicious, they source everything responsibly AND it’s founded by a woman (like all of the best brands) with a cool story. They have really thought of every lil detail and I love a passion-fueled brand. 🥝 @peachy_clean_skin meet Kayla, your Adam Sandler bestie-estie. Kayla has nailed down the art of playful nostalgia with her use of cut outs, scrapbook motifs, and bright colors. I was 13 when I was diagnosed with ADHD.

And like a lot of women, I got by without medication for years. Honors classes, soccer, university, two businesses, multiple jobs.. I made it work.

Until last year, when every coping mechanism I had… just stopped working.

I felt like I was constantly failing everyone. I’d swing between extreme productivity and completely crashing. I kept thinking if I just tried harder, something would click. The joy would come back.

So I decided to revisit medication. I tried it in college and hated it, but something kept nudging me to explore other options. I made an appointment, talked through my symptoms, and was prescribed Adderall.

And can yall believe.. the effects were immediate! The constant brain noise went quiet. I could do a full day of work, close my laptop, and actually feel satisfied. And enjoy my evening?? That alone has changed my life more than I can explain ?

Finding medication in my 30s has made me a better business owner, a better partner, and a better friend. And I wish I had done it sooner.

There are SO many incredible web designers out there who do the clean, minimal, neutral designs beautifully. And I’m finally coming to terms with that’s just not me 🤷‍♀️ I have never been elegant or luxurious or perfectly aesthetic. I’m loud, I love color, I’m queer, and its taken me awhile but I’ve built a business that is a safe space for people like me. I don’t know about you but when I started in the online space, I felt like I had to show up like every other “successful” entrepreneur to be taken seriously. But the more me I was? The more I started attracting the most incredible clients. Bold estis with loud brands and big personalities who were done playing small and ready to be seen. THAT is who I’m here for ❤️‍🔥 If you’ve ever felt like you have to be soft and neutral and perfectly curated to be successful in esthetics, I get it. I used to think the same thing about my own business. And then I realized the right clients weren’t going to find me until I stopped hiding the parts of me that make me, me. And also you make peoples lives better, like they literally talk about how awesome you are in other rooms. I hope you know that!

So remember to have fun every so often or try new things. Have confidence in the fact you’re still here, after everything that you’ve gone through. And don’t forget to be nice to yourself!!!!

This was the first branding shoot taken in my own space, in the home I dreamed about for two years, captured by my sweet partner, which somehow makes every image feel even more special.

For those who don’t know, in 2023 I left Austin after ending an engagement and moved back home to rebuild my life from the inside out. Those two years were full of healing, clarity, quiet work, and a whole lot of dreaming. Every single day, I imagined having my own space again. A place that felt safe, beautiful, and fully mine.

Signing a lease this summer, creating this home, and finally feeling rooted again… it was worth every minute of the wait ?

I’m more sure of who I am, and my style, than ever before.

This new era feels aligned, grounded, and honestly? A little magical ?
